There’s something irresistible about the meeting of rich, velvety chocolate and sharp bursts of cherry—especially when it’s dressed in deep black tones and served ice-cold. Obsidian Cherry Freeze is a decadent, gothic reimagining of hot chocolate, blending dark cocoa with frozen cherries and finished with a dramatic swirl of charcoal-infused whipped cream.

It’s cozy and cursed all at once—the kind of indulgence made for late-night horror movies, quiet winter evenings, or any moment when ordinary comfort just won’t do.

🍫 Obsidian Cherry Freeze

Ingredients

  • 2 cups milk (whole milk or oat milk work best)
  • ½ cup heavy cream
  • ⅓ cup dark chocolate chips or chopped dark chocolate
  • 2 tablespoons black cocoa powder (or Dutch-process cocoa)
  • 2 tablespoons granulated sugar (adjust to taste)
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 cups ice
  • ½ cup frozen cherries (pitted)

Instructions

  • Warm the chocolate base
    In a small saucepan over low heat, combine the milk, heavy cream, dark chocolate, cocoa powder, and sugar. Stir gently until the chocolate is fully melted and the mixture is smooth. Do not let it boil.
  • Cool the mixture
    Remove from heat and stir in the vanilla extract. Allow the mixture to cool to room temperature. (For faster chilling, refrigerate for 20–30 minutes.)
  • Blend the freeze
    Add the cooled chocolate mixture, ice, and frozen cherries to a blender. Blend until thick, frosty, and milkshake-smooth.
  • Pour and prepare
    Divide evenly between glasses and set aside while you make the whipped cream.

🕷️ Charcoal-Infused Whipped Cream

Ingredients

  • 1 cup cold heavy whipping cream
  • 1–2 tablespoons powdered sugar
  • ¼ teaspoon activated charcoal powder
  • ½ teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. In a chilled bowl, whip the heavy cream and powdered sugar until soft peaks form.
  2. Sprinkle in the activated charcoal and add the vanilla extract.
  3. Continue whipping until medium peaks form and the cream turns a smoky gray-black.

  • Spoon or pipe the charcoal whipped cream generously over each glass of Obsidian Cherry Freeze
  • Garnish with extra frozen cherries or dark chocolate shavings
  • Optional: drizzle with chocolate syrup or dust lightly with cocoa powder for extra depth
